SEAHORSES

You can find seahorses in oceans all over the world. There are over 40 species. Pigmy seahorses are as tiny as your little finger nail, but big-belly seahorses will be even bigger than your hand.

SHARKS

Sharks have lived in our oceans for more than 450 million years! That’s long before dinosaurs first walked the earth. Their brains have evolved to become more intelligent and devoted to their senses – mainly their ability to smell.

PENGUINS

Penguins are playful! They love to slide down icy patches on their bellies and take turns to dive into the ocean. Did you know their black and white pattern is a form of camouflage? It helps them blend in with the water and keep safe from predators.

TURTLES

Turtles are ancient reptiles that have been around for over 200 million years. They shared our planet with the earliest dinosaurs. There are over 300 species of turtle in our oceans and rivers today, and on land too. There are seven species of sea turtles – nearly all are critically endangered. They are hunted for their beautiful shells, meat and eggs, and are often caught in fishing nets.

CLOWNFISH

You might have heard of a rather famous clownfish… he’s called Nemo! You’ll find creatures just like him darting through coral reefs in tropical oceans of the Indo-Pacific.
